Botticelli (Sandro Filipepi)
1445 - 1510
Sandro Filipepi better known as Botticelli, probably the most individualistic and influential painter in Florence at the end of the 15th-century, painted portraits of royalty and later, religious pictures.

Botticelli's works are noted for the fine quality of line. He used contour lines to give his paintings a very graceful feeling of movement. As his style differed from the new ideas of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo in the 1500s, he lost much of his popularity. This loss added to his sadness during his remaining years.
