They had narrowly escaped a revolution. Now their airplane had crashed among the peaks of the highest mountain range in the world, the Himalayas.

Miraculously, someone came to their rescue. Their rescuers were happy and peaceful. They took the four survivors to their home, the mystical valley of Shangri-La.

Lost Horizon is the story of four people wha survive a plane crash, and who are taken to the hidden valley of Shangri-La. Shangri-La is an idyllic society. The four survivors are put to work helping to build and enrich the society. Though Shangri-La is happy and peaceful, each survivor has conflicting feelings about wanting to stay.

Hugh Conway was to become the New High Lama. Although Father Perrault expIained many things to Hugh, his decision of whether to stay or leave Shangri-La was not an easy one. The others needed his help to leave; but if he left, he knew he could probably never return to the enchanted valley.
