Jill practiced every moment of everyday. Her goal was to be a member of the U. S. Olympic ski team. Sportswriters called her "a new star and a glamorous young champion. " One more qualifying race was all that stood between her and a place on the Olympic team.

This is a true story of Jill Kinmont who was one of the top qualifiers for the U. S. Olympic team in 1955. However, on the downhill run she fell and was seriously injured. The injury was so serious she was left paralyzed from the shoulders down.

The story builds to the disaster and then shows the agonizing years of struggling to be a person on her own..
