It all started with Lina, the only girl in the school, and her piece about storks. Storks were supposed to bring good luck. Many other villages had storks. But in the little Dutch fishing village of Shora, no storks built their nests.

Lina and the other children wanted to bring storks to their town. Soon all the villagers wanted to have storks in Shora. They had to find a wheel, but no one had a wagon.

Lina and the other school children (five boys, Jella, Eelka, Auka, Pier, and Dirk) set out to find a wheel to place on the sharp schoolhouse roof as a spot for storks to build their nests. In the process they learned many things about each other and their neighbors.
