Charles Wallace crled out in a voice filled with panic, "Don't let go of my has! Hold me tight! He's trying to get at me"
"Who?"
"I don't know. But I can feel him!"
"Let's go back. " Calvin started to pull away.
"No," Charles Wallace said. "We have to go on. We can't decide about a thing because we're afraid. Besides we must find father."
"I've been waiting for you my dears, " the man said. Meg stared in horror. His eyes were bright with a reddish gleam and above his head reddish light glowed, pulsing, throbbing in steady rhythm.
"Close your eyes!" Charles Wallace shouted.
This is a science fiction story about four children, the eldest girl is very plain, and the
youngest is a five-year-old intellectual. Their mother has kept the family going since their
physicist father has disappeared.
In the search for their missing father, the children head into outer space with three persons
called Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. They meet many dangerous situations including
going through the Black Thing and almost being pulled into It.
After frightening times, the children find their father.
