Elephant Seal
The elephant seal gets its name from its - proboscis, or snout, which roughly resembles the trunk of an elephant. Actually, only the male seal has the flabby snout which droops over his jaws. On land, the elephant seal is sluggish. Its large bulky body makes it difficult for the animal to move around. It also makes it difficult for the animal to escape danger. When alarmed, the elephant seal panics and makes a frantic attempt to escape. However, it tires easily on land and needs to return to the sea. In the sea the elephant seal hunts its food. There its only natural enemy is the Killer Whale. Once threatened by extinction, the elephant seal is now making a slow comeback.
