The purpose of this reading inventory is to return a test score that directly correlates to the reading level of the student being tested.

Read the following selection and answer as many questions as possible in 3 minutes!

At the completion of the test, match the test score with the appropriate grade level listed at the bottom of the page.

The Circus

Isn't the circus a wonderful place? Everyone seems so happy. There is the clown selling ballons.. Here is a peddler selling popcorn and peanuts. In one of the little tents you may see Tillie, the fat lady, for ten cents. Listen! What is that man saying? A two headed cow! You never heard of half the sights. All the way to the big tent the baths is crowded with side shows. Giant, seals, snakes, and acrobats invite you. inside the big tent the real snow begins. Horses, monkeys, dogs all do the cleverest tricks. The snakes, lions, and tigers remain in cages, so you need not be afriad. The band plays all the time. Oh, but it's fun to be at the circus!
