Introduction

The following projects are designed for you to become an inventor and in the process to enjoy learning about the whacky world of inventions.

Inventions

Research the internet for different inventions that interest you. Selecttwo of them that you like and give a three minute speech on why you think these particular inventions would work and how they would benefit our society.

Inventors

Read about inventors and the unique ideas they have. Select one inventor from a web site and write a 500 word essay on the word processor and send it to two students in the class via E-Mail.

Patents

Spend time studying patents and the patent process. Select three of the items below, and write a short paragraph about the importance of each:
  1. A Provisional Patent Application
  2. A Design Patent
  3. A Utility Patent
  4. A Patent Pending
  5. A Prototype or Model
  6. A Patent Search

Design and Build

Learn how to go about designing and building an invention. After obtaining information and deciding on a design, complete the following assignment:
  • Make a rough pencil draft of your idea.
  • Construct a final drawing of this idea either isometrically or orthographically.
  • Build your idea using articles supplied in class or procured from home.

Explore

Once your final drawings and invention is constructed, explore the internet for related information. You will need to turn in a list of five sites you visited.
