A graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois, he began his career as a pastor for the First Baptist Church of Western Springs, Ill. in 1943. The charismatic preacher brought his revival crusades to Hollywood in 1949 and launched a worldwide ministry utilizing radio, television, film and books. Graham was a close advisor of President Richard Nixon and was the first evangelist to preach in the Soviet Union.
