"A radical is one who speaks the truth."
In 1927 Charles Lindbergh gained sudden fame when he undertook the first non-stop trans-Atlantic solo flight between New York and Paris. The two-day flight took place on May 20-21. For the next decade Lindbergh became the world's best known and best-loved man, which was a remarkably long adulation in an era without publicity. The 1932 kidnapping and death of his son brought Lindbergh into the news again, and the tragedy led him and his wife Anne Morrow Lindbergh to move to England in 1935. During World War II, Lindbergh worked with Henry Ford to produce B-24 bombers. In 1954, President Eisenhower awarded him the rank of brigadier general in the Air Force Reserve.
