Lee Harvey Oswald is the accused assassin of President John F. Kennedy. Though Oswald denied that he shot the President, he himself was shot and killed by a nightclub operator Jack Ruby before he was brought to trial and could testify. A special investigation commission in 1964 concluded that Oswald was the lone assassin. A later two-year Congressional investigation concluded that "Kennedy was probably assassinated as the result of a conspiracy."
