"Secrets travel fast in Paris." Napoleon

When one hears the word Paris, romance, music and good food immediately spring to mind. But Paris is more than that. Over the centuries, the capital of France has become the European center for fashion, society and intellectual exchange. It is also a city full of historic treasures. The famous Eiffel Tower -- right next to the ornate Pont Alexandre III, one of the many noteworthy bridges over the river Seine -- was built for the 1889 World Exposition. The Arc de Triomphe, commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 is possibly Paris' second most famous landmark. There are many more noteworthy sites, such as the Place du Tertre, Montmartre, the heart of the artist community, Notre Dame, The Louvre museum and its Tuilleries Gardens, Place des Vosges with its Renaissance buildings and St. German-des-Pres with its famous cafes, to name but a few.
