Windsor Castle was originally constructed in the 11th Century by William the Conqueror, rebuilt by Edward III and further altered by later monarchs. It lies along the northern banks of the Thames River, some 22 miles from London. The Round Tower divides the castle into the Upper Ward and the Lower Ward, which houses the famous St. George's Chapel, built by Edward IV and completed by Henry VIII. Windsor Castle also houses the Royal Mausoleum, where Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are buried. The castle is surrounded by an 1800 acre park known as Windsor Great Park.
